JAST USA and G-Collections are happy to announce that effective immediately, we are deploying a series of patches for our download products that use the Virtual Mate Launcher content management system. These patches will restore game functionality for users of 64-bit operating systems with which the Virtual Mate software is incompatible. This ensures that:

  • All download version games are compatible with 64-bit Windows
  • All games are compatible with all versions of Windows 7, Vista, and earlier Windows systems
  • Once issued, game codes will no longer “expire”

All titles in the G-Collections library that employ the Virtual Mate system are in the process of being patched, with the large majority of patches already available. To obtain patches for the currently supported games, please visit our download site at:

http://support.g-collections.com/

Inputting the game code you received at the time of purchase will grant access to downloads for that game, including the applicable patch. The installation process for most patches is as simple as clicking on the downloaded executable, which will automatically patch your game to the new version (some may require a manual install into the target directory).

Please note that these patches are still officially in beta. Preliminary testing shows that some newly patched game versions are not compatible with previously used save files (.sav in your game directory), so retaining a backup of the original install is advised for those wishing to continue use of their old saves.

We are confident that these patches will resolve the overwhelming majority of issues our users have experienced with V-Mate in the past, however should any issues arise in the patching process we welcome customer feedback at our support website (please submit your ticket to the “Support for Dating Sim game or V-Mate” section).

The following is a current list of games for which patch support is not yet implemented:

DOR
Virgin Roster
Heart de Roommate
Jewel Knight Crusaders

Support for these titles will be coming soon.

12/21/09 Update: Patches for the following titles are now available:

I’m Gonna Nurse You 2
Target: Pheromone (pending upload)
I’m Gonna Serve You 4
Private Nurse (pending upload)

I am thrilled V-Mate is going away! I’ve been on 64 bit operating systems for several years now and really missed some of these games. I know I could have dual-booted and did when I really needed 32 bit, but playing them native will feel so much more comfortable. Thank you guys so much for doing this and your on-going efforts to make your paying customers satisfied ones.

If V-Mate is going, what’s going to replace it? Are you removing DRM altogether? If so, that’s very commendable of you. I’ll admit that I prefer having disc versions (especially since I have a 512k internet connection which is hardly suitable for downloading large games on), but it’s still good news.

Nice, but what about disc versions? My retail copy of Family Project requires an internet connection every single time it boots up, even though the manual says this is only supposed to happen the first time.

    Peter Shillito:
We have no plans to replace V-Mate on the games that used to require it, so this patch effectively removes the DRM restrictions from those games. You’ll still need your download code to obtain the game and patch from our server and when requesting customer support.

    that guy:
Products using the Software Defender system will continue to require a one-time activation (both disc and download versions), following which an internet connection is not required to play the games. If a connection is present the game will check to make sure your code hasn’t been compromised, but when you’re entirely offline the game will load and run without a problem.
